Finding Radio’s Competitive Advantage in the Local Marketplace

By January 21, 2020Updates

Advertisers have been rushing to embrace new forms of lower-cost digital marketing. As a result, it’s been harder and harder to sell them radio, TV, and newspaper advertising. Where are they spending their money, and how can radio stations, especially Hispanic radio stations that enjoy especially strong community connections, take advantage of the new trends?

La publicidad está muerta. ¡Viva la publicidad!

The Hispanic Radio Conference is proud to present local advertising guru Gordon Borrell, who will discuss and dissect the changing face of advertising and how local businesses are beginning to embrace companies that will help them navigate the new and sometimes confusing marketing landscape.

Gordon Borrell is a sought-after speaker for conferences and company meetings and is the local media industry’s leading analyst. He is ranked in the top 2% among Gerson Lehrman Group’s 150,000 consultants worldwide and is quoted frequently in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Ad Age, Forbes, and other publications. He has appeared on CNN and other TV and radio programs discussing trends and forecasts for local media. Before starting Borrell Associates, Borrell was vice president for new media for Landmark Communications, where he worked for 22 years. He started his career as a reporter and editor for the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1989 he began pioneering interactive ventures and helped establish the first TV, newspaper, and cable and network TV websites. Borrell is the past chairman of the Local Media Association and past president of the Newspaper Association of America’s New Media Federation.
